Today students had the option of getting caught up on reading night and reading strategies, working on study questions, or completing movie notes as we watch Elie and Oprah at Auschwitz documentary. All three items are due in tomorrow's notebook, along with Journal 3. Notebooks are due tomorrow.
HW: Make sure you've read through page 75 of Night for Friday's quiz. You should have completed reading strategies for pages 1-25, 26-50, and 51-75 (roughly). You may use your reading strategies on the quiz. You should also have completed study questions 1-8 for Night. The rest of the study questions are EXTRA CREDIT.
English 11 Periods 3 & 5
Today students were given the option to continue reading Into the Wild, do reading strategies for Into the Wild, and/or watch Gone with the Wind. I showed part of Gone With the Wind because the time period we studied last week, and will return to next week, is the Civil War Era and I wanted students to be exposed to some visuals of the time period, themes, and major events. The themes of Into the Wild tie in to the poetry of that era, and we will make that connection next week.
For the quiz tomorrow: read through AT LEAST page 60 of Into the Wild. Reading strategies for any or all of those pages are extra credit and can be used on the quiz. There will also be bonus questions on the quiz for pages 61-end of the book. These are extra credit. HW over the weekend will be to read through page 80 if you want to work ahead.
HW: I will collect reading strategies for extra credit tomorrow if you have completed them. Bring your outside reading book for reading time if you are caught up with Into the Wild and would prefer to read that.
