Sophomores took notes on and discussed Jewish Resistance. The powerpoint includes link to the video clilps we watched. DON'T FORGET TO BRING SIGNED PERMISSION LETTER OR HAVE YOUR PARENT EMAIL ME SO THAT YOU CAN WATCH SCHINDLER'S LIST IN CLASS THURSDAY AND FRIDAY OF THIS WEEK. If you do not have permission to watch the movie, you will work in the library on a research assignment related to Schindler. TURN IN FINAL DRAFT OF PERSUASIVE ESSAY ON GOOGLE CLASSROOM BY THE END OF THE DAY. BRING NOTEBOOK AND NIGHT BOOK TO TURN IN THURSDAY.

Sophomores watched the film, Elie and Oprah in Auschwitz While watching the movie, students were directed to take notes in the following categories: questions, connections to prior learning and reflections (personal reactions).
HW: Finish yesterday's Ghetto Life ppt assignment if you haven't already. View the Ghetto Life ppt and complete the notes/research page that is available in Google Classroom. Bring Schindler's List movie permission letter. Or parents can email me directly with permission, movie title, and student name. Juniors read, discussed and took notes on Act I of DOAS in class today. Students who were not in class can read the ebook and take notes on key events, character traits, and themes in their comp books. HW: Prepare at least three questions for the career panel tomorrow. They will have recent grads, counselors and the career center advisor there to answer questions about post-graduation options. Students should also be working on their Narrative Story final draft, which is due Friday. Sophomores
Check Google Classroom for assignments completed in class on this day. Students should have completed the Ghetto Life PPT and notes assignment. HW: Complete the body paragraph editing guide tonight and upload a final draft of your persuasive paper to the Google Classroom folder online. It is due December 16. Print and return the Schindler's List Movie Permission Letter by Wednesday, December 15. Parents can also email me directly with permission, movie name, and student name. Juniors Check Google Classroom for assignments completed in class on this day. Students should have completed reading the "Punctuating Dialogue" article and highlighting key information and key terms. After finishing the article, students should work on adding dialogue and editing dialogue in their own narrative stories. Sophomores used Google Classroom to complete the intro and conclusion for the persuasive paper we are currently writing. After filling in the intro and conclusion template, students had time to start typing the final draft. Both assignments are in Google Classroom and can be worked on via any internet-connected computer. The typed draft is due Monday. The assignment sheet is on Google Classroom, along with the rubric.
Juniors worked in Google Classroom to complete the character chart. The ebook for DOAS is linked in the directions for the character chart. Turn in via Google classroom. We completed it in class today. After finishing the character chart, students had time to work on their narrative story. See assignment in Google Classroom for requirements, assignment sheet, etc. The final draft will be due Friday, December 19. DON'T FORGET TO CHECK OUT A NEW OUTSIDE READING BOOK. Sophomores worked on completing the body paragraph of their persuasive essay about the Doctor's Trial. See previous posts for assignment sheet and trial document.
HW: complete the body paragraph rough draft. Juniors worked on characterization. We wrote a character sketch for an orange (you can use any inanimate object if you weren't here) and answered the following questions about the orange. After the orange, we answered the same questions for a main character of the narrative story we are currently writing. Sophomores finished reading and acting out the Doctor's Trial Dramatization After the trial, we discussed the verdict and students began brainstorming the persuasive essay related to the trial. The task today (finish for HW tonight) was to complete the following:
Claim (is he guilty or not) Body paragraph topic sentence (main argument for the claim you chose) 3 concrete details (three examples or quotes from the trial that prove your argument) HW: Finish the above and bring to class tomorrow. Juniors worked on their Narrative Story set in the 19040's. All information is in the Google classroom. Click on the assignment and go to "assignment details" HW: Finish one page of content for the story. (start draft, research notes, character descriptions or outline of your story) Sophomores began reading and took notes on The Doctor's Trial. We will finish reading the trial tomorrow.
Juniors warmed up with Journal 3 for DOAS. We discussed the journal and then read and discussed pages 28-37. As they read, students completed reading strategies for those pages (define new words, summarize key points, ask questions, make predictions) in their composition notebooks. Click HERE for today's lesson. HW: Bring ideas to work on narrative story tomorrow. Should have completed plot line graphic organizer, story map, story play and original storytelling worksheets already in the narrative tools document. You can complete them digitally and turn in to Google Classroom or print and complete by hand. We will be working on our narrative stories in class tomorrow. Sophomores read their outside reading books (or Night) and I did notebook checks.
Juniors participated in a Socratic Seminar on this week's burning question. "Is humanity (the world) better or worse off than in the 1940's?" Juniors who were absent need to see me for options on how to make this up. It was an in-class activity with participation points attached.

HW: find a new outside reading book asap December 2 Juniors Log in to Google Go to Google Classroom Work in groups of 6 to read pages 1-28 of Death of a Salesman (box of books by my desk) Complete summary of DOAS pages 1-28 in comp book Draw setting of first 28 pages using details from the play. Include at least 5 quotes with page numbers that describe specific details included in the drawing. Turn in drawing to turn in bin in classroom by class period or online in assignment folder. We added examples from the novel, Night, to our notes as they related to the various historical events. Students were directed to divide their notes into two columns, The left is notes from the ppt, and the right is examples from the book that relate. December 3 Juniors Today we watched the film clip for the beginning of Act I of the play that we read in class yesterday and discussed the relationship between Willy and Linda. We contributed using the google docs below.
