Monday May 5
Warm-up: Journal 3 (packet for this week including daily calendar can be downloaded from assignments, TKAM)
After the journal, we discussed the topic of courage as it relates to the novel, TKAM, and then spent most of the remainder of the period updating our character charts. The model for the character chart can be downloaded from assignments/TKAM and students should have started one in their NB a couple of weeks ago. They can start now if needed and write it in their comp book or download and fill it in in Word.
HW: Read Ch 10 of TKAM and complete Ch 9 study questions.
Tuesday May 6
Warm-up: Spelling Lesson 6 Additional Activities
After the warm-up, we analyzed and discussed the poem in this week's packet, "If We Are To Die" and discussed its tone and mood and also how it's theme relates to our novel, TKAM.
After the poem, we began finding quotes in the novel in preparation for completing the found poem assignment in this week's packet. Students should have picked a character to write about and started to find the 8-10 phrases about that character they will use to construct the found poem. The assignment sheet for the poem is in this week's packet. The grade sheet for the poem can also be found under assignments/TKAM. The final poem will be due Thursday.
HW: find 8-10 phrases (or more) about your chosen character to use in the found poem; read through ch 10 of TKAM if you haven't already; find an outside reading book if you haven't already. NB's will be checked again this Friday and there will be a quiz on TKAM.
